Marche, a region that is often reduced only to the Adriatic sea coast: smaller well known town San Benedetto del Tronto with about six kilometers of coastline lined with about 5000 palm trees gave the name to the Palm Riviera coastline. But this region also offers the beauty of the Apennine Mountains and several major cities, among which Urbino – the birthplace of two great Italian Renaissance artist – architect Bramante and painter Raffael. Lovers of beautiful beaches and mountain hikes will be surely amazed in the northern part of the region where can find countless forgotten mountain villages and almost untouched beaches. Undoubtedly, the most renowned pilgrimage site is Loreto, with its Virgin Mary’s lodge, which brought angels from Nazareth to Dalmatia and then transported here. Local cuisine specialties are seafood and porchetta (roasted piglet). The most famous is the local wine – Verdicchio, which features a green-golden color and a dry taste.
